Between [livejournal.com profile] aithine and [livejournal.com profile] ophidiae, all the fruit discussion, and having to listen to seven hours of tuba music outside my office window (thank you, Commencement ceremonies), I committed crackfic, again. Good gravy.

Between [livejournal.com profile] docmichelle and said Commencement ceremonies, I wrote over 1000 words on the grad student thing, which is looking like its own special brand of crackfic. Yipe.

And for, not because of, [livejournal.com profile] coreopsis, here's the TiVo promo of Batman Begins. 30MB DivX .avi file, 4 minutes long, yousendit link; want, take, have.

Yeah, one of these things is not like the others. It's 2am. Close enough. *g*

Now I go to bed, wondering about the crack they're putting in my antihistamines.

LOL! Actually, we're on the same side of the river, though I won't argue the egos. *g* Our office looks down on the School of Public Health courtyard, which is ever-so-fortunately surrounded on all 4 sides by tall buildings, so the noise gets to echo.

(no worries on the Serenity thing! stuff happens. *g*)

HBS doesn't have the big bands playing. In fact, it's down right subdued after the hubaloo in the Yard.

I'm just glad I didn't have to go near the Yard--their big events frighten me. Security was bad enough here, what with having to have our IDs checked approximately every 10 feet.

damn, id checks? we had none of that. i'm consistently surprised at how lax we can be about security, though it works in my favor since i never know where my ID is.

half the people i work with don't come in on Graduation Day because of the mess in the yard. i just avoid going into the Square until at least evening.

Seven hours of tuba music?! That surely qualifies you for hazard or hardship pay?

Wanted, took, thanks :)

The first few hours were "Pomp and Circumstance," and then they switched tracks and kept going...

Welcome! I have some more paying-it-forward vidcaps to put up soon, too.

Can't help giggling. When I was a child, every Sunday a marching band would play in a pavillion in the park, and as it was quiet on Sunday's, we had the misfortune of hearing them for hours.
Only recently I found - thanks to New British Cinema - that there is tuba/trumpet/marching band music that actually sounds good. I fear you were not treated to that though.

More Bale is of the good.
So are the downers they put in antihistamines, btw.

I love that you're so easily influenced encouraged to write crackfic. It's one of your very best qualities. ;) Not only that, but you do it so damned well. *vbg*

::giggles:: Thank you, I think. Though both my pliability and my degree of "whacked" might say unfortunate things about me. *g*

To this day I can't hear Pomp & Circumfish without wincing.

Yes, I typed "circumfish" on purpose. My band director in high school had this weird habit of sticking fish into titles. "Where Do Broken Fish Go?" for example. He also called us all fish a lot. He was an odd man. Great teacher though.

We had to play P&C at graduations. It took what felt like hours to get through the processional. Those of us in sections that had more than one player would rotate to prevent lip fatigue.
