Nine hours later...
We left the house at 2pm to go to a housewarming party. And then: friends, food, booze, splitting up, regrouping at a bar, more food, more booze, possible line on a new job, plans to kick unsuspecting ass in an upcoming bar trivia tournament, the Boy morphing into Professor Boy briefly (no Superman lecture this time, but he did hold forth on Full Metal Jacket), splitting up again, regrouping at ice cream parlor, and then somehow I'm skipping down a street in Inman Square, in the rain, with a Neil Gaiman hardcover zipped into my leather jacket (American Gods, because I know that is the crucial detail of this story)...
... and now home again. And despite never having been more than slightly buzzed (the skipping was just a sugar high, believe it or not), I'm just not at all certain where the time went.
It confuses me so when I suddenly have an outside life. *g* Did I miss anything here?

Date: 2004-11-20 08:56 pm (UTC)The only Neil Gaiman book I've ever read is "Good Omens" (because I used to be a big Terry Pratchett fan.) I can't believe there's slash about it, though. I mean, where's the line, people?

Date: 2004-11-20 11:45 pm (UTC)After seeing Bible slash, boy-band slash, Muppet slash, and Lego porn... I just stopped asking that question. I'm not sure I can handle the answer.

You are young and have no children. Enjoy it now for it will disappear.
I think I hang out *here* because my outside life consists mostly of things child-related (cleaning them, cleaning up after them, taking them places, buying them things, fixing their things, cleaning their things, hiding their things, hiding *my* things from them, playing with them, making them things...) Well, you get the idea.
Tell me more of this "outside life". Memory fails me.
An outside life....
Date: 2004-11-21 08:24 am (UTC)I have deep envy of your fun evening.
And Full Metal Jacket is an amazing film. D'Onfrio when he still acted and wasn't just a bundle of bizarre mannerisms. Amazing stuff.
And ice cream. Any night that includes ice cream is cool.
I'm so glad you had a nice evening. I'm smiling for you.
