Offline life, you are a wacky, demanding beast. Just this past week, we've had our second car accident in two weeks (no damage, we're all fine here, now, thank you, how are you?) our first setting-off of the smoke detectors in the new house (they're all linked, and they tell you to evacuate in this funky electronic voice. it would have been hilarious had I not been so busy opening the windows to make sure The Boy did not suffocate us all), and my credit card number was possibly stolen in some processing center transaction the credit card company is being a little coy about (AWESOME).

Also, it's cold as fuck outside. No, actually, colder.

And yet I am happy. I think my Wheaties have been spiked. Or else it's my interweb happy places!

I've been having a Weezer Renaissance, courtesy of The Boy. First up is Pork and Beans, which is awesome not just because it's peppy and iconoclastic and had much the same impetus as "Shiny Happy People" (i.e., fuck you, record label), but also because it features a bunch of YouTube celebrities singing along*, including the Numa Numa guy and the Evolution of Dance guy**.

They actually remixed the video with more/different clips, too: Re: Pork and Beens. (For people who like footnotes--and who doesn't--Wikipedia has an entry about the song and the people in the video.)

Troublemaker is, heh, also kind of peppy and iconoclastic, and the video is Weezer and a bunch of fans setting a bunch of silly Guiness World Records. \o/

And then there's Keep Fishin', which features the Muppets, and is adorable. Flying penguins!

*I kind of love videos where other arguably famous people are singing the song along with/instead of the band/singer. See also Freedom! '90 by George Michael (footnotes) and Rockstar by Nickelback (likewise).

**Speaking of the Evolution of Dance (which is one of my favoritest videos ever, because it never, ever fails to make me laugh), there's an Evolution of Dance 2! YAY.

And I know it's been linked everywhere, but Boom De Ya Da is 60 seconds of complete happiness.

Non-YouTube, Adam Baldwin gives good interview to The Onion.

In other news, while packing one of my bookshelves the other night, I kept cracking up. Well, first the James Patterson "Women's Murder Club" books (The Boy's) made me smile sadly and mourn the passing of the show, and then alllll the Arthurian and Robin Hoodsian books made me giggle (mine, I confess, but I'd had them for years. causality, it went the other way this time), and then I laughed out loud when I ran across the John Ringo books (belonging to both of us, but NOT the Paladin of Shadows OH JOHN RINGO NO books--these are the scifi, largely coauthored ones, all of which we bought before, y'know). But still, oh no, John Ringo!

(The nonfiction shelves had their moments, too, like when I realized I had just packed Alfred Thayer Mahan's "The Influence of Sea Power Upon History 1660-1783" next to Chris Packard's "Queer Cowboys." Highbrow, lowbrow, and every brow in between, that's us.)

And now I have tandoori chicken and sarsaparilla for lunch. \o/

What's making everyone else happy/content/less miserable right now? (Answers like "Cadbury Eggs are for sale again" are totally valid.)

The Boy brought some home the other week! I was all, "This, this is why we're still married."

And yay for puppies and chocolate and kickboxing! And no, there is no shame here. I just admitted I own multiple John Ringo books. Clearly shame does not live here anymore. *g*

I just went to a really fantastic seminar that had data that I helped generate but only knew half the story about, and now I know it all. Plus I got some strokes seeing my name on the Acknowledgement slide.

Oh, rock on! Smart is so sexy. *g*

I love seeing my name on things, too, as long as it's not preceded by words like "blame" or "this is whose ass you need to kick: ..."

I'm tired, kagey, so tired. And my tummy hurts like whoa. But! I has a haircut! It's short and kind of all over the place and I feel almost like a new person!

Also, Bradley is looking at me like he's ready to sex me up (http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff263/2wents/rtparty02.jpg), oh yes.

I'm frustrated because I'm trying to put together the money to both pay the bills and come to MJ. Does that count?

I love yours and the Boy's book collection. Seriously.

My cold is making me miserable but the Torchwood trailer is making me happy so it balances out. Also, I will follow some of your links and that will likewise make me happy. (Keep Fishin'! I haven't seen that one in ages. soawesomeomg!)

Hee! Seriously, we have books on cryptography currently sitting next to slashy high fantasy next to essays by Kevin Smith. "Eclectic" is a nice word, right? Better than "crazycakes"?

The Torchwood trailer is fabulous!
