Yes, boys and girls, we've hit the magic hour.
It's fucking snowing for the first time this season, and I am not fucking amused.
Arr. I hate the cold, and the wind chill sucks, but I have a deep-seated and possibly-irrational-though-I-sure-the-fuck-don't-think-so loathing for snow. We didn't do snow in South Florida, because it was a civilized fucking place.
... voting practices aside.
On the up side, though, the soothing wash of uncomplicated rage has completely swept away the neurotic anxiety panic I was having this morning. Given the choice, I'll always take Pissed Off over Freaked Out. I do it so much better. *g*

Date: 2004-11-12 09:58 am (UTC)However, I've already started the transition into "being incredibly amused at my own crankiness." I've lost my capacity to stay mad at the impersonal forces of nature. And my low-quality but very tasty Chinese food is helping immensely.
Oh yes, there will be fic-writing. ::bouncy::

Date: 2004-11-12 09:48 am (UTC)Heh. First snow here too (just down the road, really) but my reaction is all "Oooooooh, SNOW!" 'cause I've never had to live anywhere with snow as an actual *feature* (instead of an occasional novelty) before. However, I suspect it'll wear off realsoon and I'll settle into my usual winter gloom. With intermissions for alcohol.
For now, however - Oooooooh, SNOW!

Date: 2004-11-12 10:06 am (UTC)But I'm all over the alcoholic intermissions.
There's only two reasons for ice....
Date: 2004-11-12 10:40 am (UTC)Snow has no purpose whatsoever.
And smart people live where it's warm. I know it's not your choice, darlin', 'cause you're there for the love of a good man.
But this might be one of those occasions where I'd whack him upside the head and remind him of Darwinism in action. (grin)

Date: 2004-11-12 11:14 am (UTC)People here always go on about the seasons, like that's some big draw. We had the wet season and the dry season growing up, and that was good enough for me. *g*
Yeah, it's all him and his damn job. And his, y'know, essentially supporting both of us with said damn not-really-relocatable job (though I should really work on him about the fact that if we lived elsewhere, the cost of living would be way the hell lower!)
Stupid cash flow. Er, Communism was supposed to be bad, why?

Date: 2004-11-12 10:42 am (UTC)You have my sympathies.
I grew up in Ohio; moved to coastal California when I was 18 and have never looked back. Yeah, it's cold(ish) and rainy all winter, but at least we never have to shovel snow. Ever.

Date: 2004-11-12 11:06 am (UTC)But I've gotten loads of cleaning done so I don't have to bother with it this weekend. Although...there is always more.
Chinese food sounds good. We usually have take out of some kind on Fridays. And it's definitely Friday. Enterprise and Stargate marathon night. NOt that I get to watch much of it "live"...grumble.
I think I've been infected with your rant virus.

Date: 2004-11-12 11:22 am (UTC)My husband is at home playing Everquest 2. He doesn't even have to leave the house today. But I'm trying to be good and not, y'know, hate him bitterly for it or anything. Go me.

Date: 2004-11-12 09:28 pm (UTC)What I actually mean to say, is, I kind of miss living in a place where you don't wait 10 fucking months for it to fall to below 30-fucking-degrees C. Just because I've lost my Canuck ability to deal with cold doesn't mean I like it being boiling hot all the time.
So, what I'm kind of vaguely trying to say is, I share your pain. Only backwards. Yeah.
Loved your fic!
