City of Heroes, a massively-multiplayer online roleplaying game, goes live April 28. I'd managed to completely forget the existence of this game when it got pushed way, way back a few years ago, but The Boy reminded me of it this morning, and... crap.
See, once upon a time, there was EverQuest. And The Boy and I got into EverQuest. Like, a lot. I had maps and crafting recipes and ALL this crap printed out and in folders and everything. Got up to level 37 cleric before we finally got tired and quit.
Then, there was Dark Age of Camelot. Didn't level quite so far, but did a LOT of crafting and quests and all. We had a guild, with the emblem and everything.
Thought I had it out of my system when Star Wars: Galaxies just started sounded more and more wrong the more I heard about it. Look, ma, I'm cured! Or so I thought.
It's about superheroes. My thesis was about superheroes. My thrice-damned novel, if I ever finish it, is about superheroes. They're hitting me where I live. Bastards!
I spent a great deal of time at work today not working, surfing the official site. I picked up the prerelease this evening, and now I'm waiting for access to the beta test. Clearly, I just have to learn to forego this weak-willed need for sleep.
On the "what the hell is this world coming to?" front, on the way to work this morning, I heard an ad for Petsmart. Apparently, you can... have your pet's picture taken with the Easter Bunny. I just have no words for that.
