... that never gets old. Although, omg, how did I not remember Zod was Terence freaking Stamp? I just lost almost all of my accumulated mediageek points.

So, seriously? I'm quite the Grand Master Dork. This morning, I decided to miss my bus in order to get an alumni (well *checks shirt* alumNA, technically) ID card. From my alma mater, The Place of Pain and Torment. Why? Because I wanted to be able to wander the halls any time the urge struck me (some of the doors have time-locks), while... double-checking my research for a fic. Heh.

Also, I was rewatching (again again) the early S1 SGA eps, and I swear, at least the first five had been paused partway through on my TiVo. Which is odd for me, because I'm really anal fairly consistent about "rewinding" things, and then I realized--I'd stopped them after using the ep in question either for fics I was writing, or ones I was betaing. Because *cough* it's all about the primary source, see...

I'm so glad [livejournal.com profile] kylielee1000 is getting in tonight. Because she's totally behind that particular flavor of meticulous insanity. *g*

Also bolstering my dorkitude: besides my accumulated collection of blue alcohol, some of the things I'm picking up for premiere night include Jaffa Cakes, for SG-1, and Canadian Club, for Rodney--er, I mean, SGA. Am debating some lurid green alcohol in honor of BSG. *g*

My apartment is not remotely clean. However, my grand plan is to sit Kylie down on the sofa with my laptop and the tv remote and my ginormous stack of DVDs and videotapes, and have her pick things to watch while I clean around her and ply her with booze and chocolate. I think it's a good plan. Confidence is high.

The Boy (love that Boy) sent me a link to an article in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer (love that name) about men hugging men. He snagged it from ESPN.com Page 2, where the description reads, "Unbelievable article on the man-hug. I use the word "unbelievable" because what starts off as a light-hearted analysis of the man-hug somehow evolves into a serious scientific discussion of the matter, including two professors who have apparently dedicated extensive parts of their careers to an in-depth study of male hugging patterns. I keep imagining the moment both guys meet at some conference -- two Egon clones in lab coats silently sizing each other up, then awkwardly going in for the ultimate man-hug."

I don't care what kind, but I want Siege 3 John/Rodney touchies, goddammit. (Squee!)

ETA: Clearly, happydippy!kagey is also parenthetical!kagey.

I would *kill* for a hug in Seige 3, but since both of them are extremely not-touchy people, I'll settle for *any* kind of emotional acknowledgement. Just Rodney smiling his big "hey, John's alive!" smile would be nice.

The third thing is the aggressive patting on the back that comes along with it, which is a very combative gesture. It's a way for men to say, 'I have positive feelings for you, but let's show them in a way that is masculine and gender validating.'

That last sentence is a thing of beauty. THank you for bringing this article to my attention!

All hail the Grand Master! Mistress?

Something. Anything. Gotcha. Remember the little shoulder shove John gave Rodney after they brought Chaya to Atlantis? I'd take something like that.

Take many pictures.

I had the vague idea that we should initiate a conference call during the premiere, but I think we might take out the whole eastern seaboard phone system. ;)

I need to rewatch the end of 'The Defiant One': even if there is no actual touching, it somehow feels as if they bumped shoulders companionably on their way back to the jumper in the closing scene...

Similarly, in the sitting side by side scene in 'Before I Sleep' there is a friendly shoulders touching feel even if there is no actual contact.

Or am I becoming too biased? (don't answer that!) Frankly, a simple exchange of glances would be more than enough for me. :)

P.S.: but personally I anticipate that the PTB will trample all over our finer feelings by not even showing us one scene of John and Rodney's first meeting after John's return to Atlantis (and downplaying the McShep for all they are worth in S2 and seriously cutting their time together).

It's OK, I'll still have S1 to look back upon. :(

Two Days!

I just needed to say that. And you don't need to clean on my account. Mess and disorder simply mean that someone interesting lives there.

Damnitt, if they *don't* have just some kind of acknowledgement of how they parted, I - I'll - well, you'll be able to hear me yodelling all the way to Pegasus and back. I'm ruefully resigned to whatever happens not living up to the things we've imagined... okay, possibly because most of the things we've all imagined included nudity, mutual showering and frantic, passionate sex. Sigh.

You're having a premiere get-together? Colour me SO DAMN JELLUS!!
