So, The Boy and I spent the last three months trying and failing to buy a house. HOME-BUYING FAIL )

Fannishly, I feel like I fell down a hole and I've been watching people pass by on the street above, but just this very week, I have a new happy place and I've been flailing at [livejournal.com profile] shetiger and letting her laugh at my losing every cool point I might have had left in the bank.

I put off watching Merlin, not because I didn't believe everyone else who was flailing about the show, but precisely because I suspected it would suck me in, and I didn't have the time to, y'know, lose my damn mind over it. *g* I've had a thing for Arthurian stories since I was little (I blame the British side of my family, giving me books like Gawain and the Green Knight and Tales from the Mabinogion, and it's frankly a wonder that the latter didn't scare me off all things Welsh *g*), and it's kind of like a latent virus: I'm in remission for a while, and then something triggers a flare-up, and boom! I'm gone. This past weekend, though, was my reward for, well, living through the last three months, and--oh. Oh, show.

It absolutely does not hurt that Merlin and Arthur are slashy like gay gay slashy gay things. And that Arthur is hot like burning and that Anthony Stewart Head is playing the second-best bastard king I've ever seen. (Best is Patrick McGoohan as Edward Longshanks in Braveheart. Three words: gay boyfriend defenestration.)

So, y'know, if you need me, I'll be over here, grinning like an idiot and waiting for Saturday.
