Random notes...
Vegas: very cool. Reminds me a lot of Miami, except way less humid. *g*
While wandering through the Luxor (the big Egypt-themed pyramid) and having much inner Stargate squee anyway, I walked past a guy who was wearing (vagueness inserted to avoid having to cut-tag) a certain t-shirt from "Moebius 1." Almost fell down giggling.
Hit Star Trek: The Experience yesterday. It's like they saw me coming: Quark's has a drink called (groan) "James Tea Kirk," which is a Long Island Iced Tea with blue curacao instead of triple sec. Mmmm, blue and high-octane. Think I pegged the geek-meter by sitting in Quark's, eating lunch alone, drinking my giant blue drinks, and writing SGA fanfic longhand on Treasure Island stationery. Also? The Borg Encounter and the Klingon thing are quite fun after a couple of drinks. *eg* Managed to not attract my obligatory single-male-geek-seeking-company until doing the Klingon one. Had to ditch him in the gift shop. ::sigh::
Met
itsthewa yesterday--she is very, very cool! *g* There's been watching of songvids and JF clips and both parts of "The Siege" and eating and drinking and hanging and much general coolness. It's like a microcon.
I think I broke my own personal best for "amount of alcohol consumed in a single day" yesterday. And all of it was blue. Go me! Didn't actually drink at all today (my liver deserved the break), but tomorrow we're apparently having a mixed doubles drinking contest with the 46-oz frozen drinks from the Imperial Palace. Speed, not amount. Yes, it's incredibly immature, but dammit, The Boy and I have both been having a Rough Time lately. We deserve to be idiots for a weekend. Plus, I think we're the current favorites to win it. *g*
And, last but not least--holy crap. Working on the
sga_flashfic "Culture Clash" challenge (yes, while on vacation in Vegas. feel free to mock my addiction), and--it's over 2600 words so far, and not half done. (That's firmly in omgwtfpolarbear? territory.) Given that the challenge ends the day we fly back, I probably won't actually get it done in time. Unless I post one of the excerpts that pretty much stands on its own. Hmmm. (Assuming I decide that the thing works at all. I have a creeping suspicion that my central conceit is specious and my controlling metaphor is lame. But, uh, hey, at least I'm good at the consumption of large blue alcoholic drinks! *g*)
